Community Foundation Awards Grants to 8 Local Nonprofits
The Warehouse Receives $8,000 for After-School Program
Brainerd, Minn. – The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation (BLACF) announced today that it awarded grants to support key community programs at eight local nonprofit organizations. The Foundation, an affiliate of the Central Minnesota Community Foundation, awarded a total of $42,000 in this latest grant round, bringing the year-to-date total to nearly $90,000.
The Warehouse at Riverview Church received one of the largest grants, totaling $8,000, to support its After-School Program. The After-School Program focuses on providing a safe, encouraging environment where youth are able to develop healthy relationships with each other as well as with positive adults from the local community.
The Warehouse is a community center that focuses on the needs represented in the Pine River-Backus area. The Warehouse boasts a gymnasium for physical exercise and recreation, a computer lab, a stage, a meeting room with games and a fully equipped kitchen.
Other grant recipients are:
Brainerd Lakes Chamber, for the Bridges Workplace Connection, $5,000.
Crisis Line and Referral Service, for the 24 Hour Community Life Line and Suicide Prevention, $5,000.
Crossing Arts Alliance, to support the Lakes Area Chamber Music Festival, $2,000.
Cuyuna Range Youth Center, to support programs and operations, $5,000.
Lutheran Social Service of MN, for the LSS Youth Services Street Outreach Program, $5,000.
OTWCAC, funds to support Family Health and Educational Services, $10,000.
Youth Investment Foundation, for the Crosby/Cross Lake Timber Bay Program, $2,000
The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation (BLACF) is a public charity that attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of the local community.
